Who Is This King?

Who is this king of prophecy of old
Redeemer and Messiah, the Saviour of the world
His long awaited reign upon the earth
The promise of His kingdom, met with humble birth

Who is this king who comes without a crown, seated high in Heaven, choosing to step down
Worthy of a palace and a throne, forsaking sword and scepter, to bear a servant’s form
Holiness within a baby, majesty within a manger
God in fullness, here to dwell
The Saviour as an infant swaddled, Heaven’s glory in a stable
God with us, Emmanuel

Who is this king, with nothing to behold
No beauty to admire, and yet the face of God
The King of Kings, Jesus Christ, Son of man, rejected by a world that stood in waiting for salvation to arrive

Now unto us a Son is given, Heaven’s light upon us breaking
Good news and great joy to all
For unto us a child is born, the government will rest upon
His shoulders and He will be called

Wonderful Counselor, Almighty God, the Everlasting Father, the Prince of Peace
The kingdom and the power and the glory are forever Yours
We join with all of Heaven and we sing
To Him who sits upon the throne, who was and is and is to come

Forever we will praise the One ( Jesus )
